Why Write

Anyone can be a writer! If you want to be a good or even a great one, there are few things you might want to keep in mind…

You’ll need perseverance – we won’t hide it from you, you have to keep writing. If you want to write better and better stories … the more you write, the more improvement you’ll see. Write and write and write some more. It’s that simple!

Write the story that’s inside you – Sounds kinda stupid? It’s actually the best advice you’ll find. The best stories you can tell are often about things you know or are passionate about.

Reading really helps – Reading will improve your writing. It doesn’t have to be a dusty book full of big words, it could be Cleo, horror stories, books about cricket, Harry Potter, the newspaper … anything!

Reading gives you ideas for new stories, you’ll see how other people write and think and it will improve your own writing style. Reading will also increase your vocabulary – giving you more words to use, utilise, employ, exploit, draw on when you write. Oh … and it’s fun!

Of course we could fill a book with things that make great story writers. Perseverance, lots of writing and reading are however, the ones that many writers say are most important.

So what will you write about? How do you find inspiration? How do you write it, and where do you start?
